Silver Linings
Adobe Premiere Pro, filmed on iPhone 11
In 2020, people globally felt the shock and the heaviness that the COVID-19 pandemic incited. Through the grief, however, I was grateful that staying home pushed me to slow down and reconnect with my passions. I felt that a lost piece of myself was restored once I began sewing, painting, gardening, and reading again. The act of creation is an integral part of who I am, but it can be challenging to satiate in our fast-paced American culture.
I channeled these feelings into "Silver Linings," my undergraduate thesis project from CSU Long Beach. While each member of my graduating class was initially tasked with writing, directing, and producing a 10- to 15-minute short film in collaboration with cast and crew members, the COVID-19 pandemic led our university's governing board to establish new safety parameters. Following these guidelines, this short film was shot at home with only my cohabitants' assistance, and my total runtime was limited to three minutes. Simultaneously directing, acting, set dressing, and setting up equipment expanded my comfort zone and was an invaluable lesson in flexibility.

"Silver Linings" was a Hollywood Foreign Press grant awardee and an official selection of the 2021 Newport Beach Film Festival.
